Music festival means the concert or the arrangement of music, may be at the holiday, or at the weekend. Its main purpose is provide the entertainment to audience, to advertise any special singer or it sometimes may also be aimed for any charitable purpose like to raise funds or to get donations for any bad incident like to help the flood victims, earthquake victims etc.

The history of music festivals goes back to very ancient times, and it is the tradition of every culture to arrange these kinds of events and festivals, it does not matter that whether it is the western or the eastern country, Muslim or the non Muslim. It is mostly held outdoor and all the activities like performance art, merchandise and food items and the other social activities are the part of it, besides the music and songs. People love to see, attend and enjoy them always.

The earliest music festivals known to history are “Delphi” and the “Pythian Games”. Later on music festivals started to be taken place as competitions among different singers or the different companies. There are some festivals, which are held annually or biannually, and there repetition may be for a specific cause or may be the general one. Some festivals, such as “Rock festivals” are held only once. So these type of festivals are categorized on the basis of their repetition or the purpose.

Another form of music festival is the educational type of festivals, i.e. the concerts which are held in universities, schools and colleges for competition purposes. There are youngster and immature singers, who sung the songs of other singers and then are rated on the bases of their voice and performance by the judges and audience. Youngsters always work hard to win this competition as it can make their career. All the world’s most famous singers whom we see today are mostly those that got their name from these sort of competitions and festival. They receive the certificates, and trophies from the judges and judges are mostly the country’s well known singers, with whom participants never had a chance to meet otherwise.

The world’s largest and the most famous music festival is “Summerfast”, which is held every year in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It usually lasts for eleven days and the number of audience who attend this festival ranges from 800,000 to 1,000,000. While the second largest festival is “Woodstock Festival”, which was held in 1969, and there were almost 500,000 spectators who attended this festival. These two festivals have really made their name in history.
